As a youngster, I assumed homeless people were particularly wise, given all of the hard edged experiences they had to endure. As I got older, I found out that wisdom is spread about as evenly among homeless people as in the general population.
If I had met Faye as a kid, she would have fulfilled all my expectations for a homeless philosopher queen. Faye is literate, funny, and impish. Her observations about people and life are finely parsed and spot on.
Don’t judge her book by the cover.
